2011 Jackson County Apple Festival Grand Marshal Evan E. Davis Mr. Evan E. Davis began his career in the refractory and banking businesses after graduating from the College of Wooster. He served as President of the Oak Hill Savings Bank from 1974 - 1991 when he became Chairman of the Board and later Chairman of the Board of its holding company, Oak Hill Financial. Mr Davis joined his father in donating the site for the James A. Rhodes Airport in Jackson County. He has given generously to the University of Rio Grandee and was instrumental in the creation and funding of the Madog Center for Welsh Studies. He was instrumental in founding the only Welsh-American Museum in the United States, which he chartered in 1972. He continuously donates to the community where he has lived all his life, Oak Hill, as well as the entire local area. His family was involved in Jackson-area businesses, such as JISCO, and the firebrick plant which now houses AluChem. His grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. C.L. Brunton lived on South Street in Jackson and he spent a great deal of time there with them. Mr. Davis embodies the values of hard work, loyalty and community spirit and is respected by all who know him. |
