      Leonard (Len) Holzapfel served
as judge of the Jackson County
Common Pleas Court from 1993
through 2012. Prior to being elected
judge in 1992, Len practiced law in
Wellston where he served as  law
director for seven years. Prior to
moving back to Wellston Len
worked as an attorney for the
JCPenney Insurance Company.

       Len is a 1970 graduate of Wellston High School, a 1974 graduate of Ohio University with a degree in business, and a 1978 graduate of Capital University Law School.

       Len is a member of Wellston Rotary Club serves as director. Len is also a member Hope United Methodist Church, where he is a member of the choir and serves on the Pastor Parish Relations committee.

       Len is married to the former Bonnie Davis, also a 1970 graduate of Wellston High School. Len and Bonnie have been married for 40 years this year. Bonnie have two children, Jason and Stephanie. Jason and his wife Jackie live in Wellston have a new daughter Natalie. Jason operates the family business and Jackie is a teacher in the Wellston City School  System. Stephanie and her husband Shannon Weber have three children, Madelyn, Michael and Braden. Besides taking care of her kids Stephanie helps out in the family convenience store business. Shannon is an attorney in Wellston.

       Since his retirement as Common Pleas Judge Len has been busy taking assignments from the Ohio Supreme Court and helping out Jason with the stores.  Len enjoys baking and cooking, especially with the help of his grandchildren.

Len and Bonnie thank the Jackson County Apple Festival Committee for the honor of serving as grand marshal of the
2013 Apple Festival.
