Curt and Judy Wiggins are as much a part of the Apple Festival as making apple butter on the midway. Whenever there is a job to do, they step forward to do it.

In fact, the Apple Festival is part of the Wiggins heritage. Curt and Judy have passed the tradition on to their two sons and their grandchildren.

Curt and Judy devote thousands of hours every year to ensure that the Apple Festival continues to be one of the best in the great State of Ohio.

Judy is the Queen and Court Advisor. Because the Wiggins function as a team, that adds Curt to the mix. They are the primary chaperones for these lovely young ladies and escort them to a host of events. They instill in each year's royalty the importance of representing Jackson County in a positive light. Each girl is well groomed, speaks easily in public, is knowledgeable about her home county, and conducts herself in dignified and pleasant manner. Apple Festival royalty are welcomed with open arms all around the Ohio Festival & Events circuit.

During Apple Festival week, Curt and Judy are everywhere.
They tote, schlep, ferry, advise, build, tear down, soothe, and pour much needed oil on troubled waters.

Judy is a Jackson native. Curt is not far behind. He arrived with his family at the tender age of ten. Both are graduates of Jackson High School, Curt in 1960 and Judy in 1962. Curt joined the Army upon his graduation and served as an Auditor for the Inspector General Corps. When discharged in 1963, Curt headed right back home to marry Judith K. Jones. Curt had a distinguished career with A. P. Green Refractories.

Curt's job took the Wiggins family out of state for 26 years but they and their two sons, Todd and Scott, came home for Apple Festival, even if it meant a long and harried drive from Missouri. Their enthusiasm for Apple Festival rubbed off on sons Scott and Todd.

Scott and his wife, Courtney, live here so they volunteer. Scott is an Apple Festival Board director and Courtney helps with the Queens Contest and Queens Tea. Todd is quite a traveler but plans visits home for the event whether he's in Missouri, Las Vegas, Florida, England, or New Jersey. Todd also arranges for his daughters to arrive from Missouri to share in the joy.

Because they love Jackson and live their faith, Curt and Judy are active volunteers for an amazing number of organizations. They serve tirelessly at the First Presbyterian Church. Between the two of them, the list of good deeds seems endless. Among those benefitting from their presence are Jaycees, Rotary, Kiwanis, Junior Achievement, Chamber of Commerce, American Cancer Society, and Boy Scouts. Many of these groups have honored them including Rotary's Paul Harris Fellow, Chamber's Meritorious Service and Citizen of the Year Awards, numerous Relay for Life honors, and Boy Scout awards.

When not immersed in civic duties, Curt and Judy are happiest with their family, especially grandchildren Brooke, Halley, Emily Lynn, and Tyler.

Curt and Judy thank the Jackson Apple Festival Committee for the honor of serving as Grand Marshalls of the 2014 Apple Festival.
